This haflinger has an interesting history, it was originally owned by the “North of Scotland Hydro Electric Board” (now called SSE). The “Hydro Board” as they were known were responsible for installing and operating the electrical network in the north of Scotland.
LJS 402J is a LWB Poly cab, and was fitted with extra wide tyres, a bellview winch and was painted in the “Hydro” blue colour.
We first saw this at aucton in the late ’80’s when the Hydro Board sold it off, then it passed through several private hands over the next 30 years.
In 2019 we were fortunate to be able to buy it for our collection and in time we will restore it to its Hydro livery. We have now fitted a set of the original wide rims with new tyres, and we are refurbishing a Belleview winch for it. The gearbox needs a full rebuild (Hi Peter..!) so the next stage will be to remove the body for a full strip and restoration.
